We Hear You
Four astronauts race a corporate rival to Jupiter's moon Ganymede. One of them is lying. Something beneath the ice is already listening.
In 2047, humanity is ready to stop waiting. The solar system's communications grid has reached Jupiter — and the company that owns it is about to become the most powerful corporation in history. All it needs is a final piece of hardware installed on Ganymede's frozen surface. The only obstacle is their rival, who's racing for the same contract from the other side of the belt.
Commander Carter Elias has been given fifteen hours to get there first. He's a doctor, a pilot, and a man who has already lost one crew on Ganymede. Three years ago, he left his commanding officer and mentor behind when her shuttle failed. The accident was never explained. The Company buried the findings. Carter stopped sleeping.
His new crew is the best the Company could assemble: Nick Reeves, a Stanford-trained tech specialist with a daughter he's never met; Kyra Volkov, a combat pilot and weapons officer carrying her own ghosts; and Brad Kowalski, a flight engineer whose faith and competence have kept three previous missions alive. One of them is lying.
As the Rømer's engines fail seventy million kilometers from Jupiter, strange things begin happening in its corridors. Voices. Shadows. The dead, walking. The sabotage might be explained. But what's been sending signals from beneath Ganymede's ice cannot.
